-Executive Summary-
- UP Yet AGAIN …. The markets have advanced now 11 out of the 13 market days in February.
- With Apple Inc. stock falling hard and other stocks showing signs of fatigue, we pulled our investment of Intel Corp. (INTC) off the table. See more below. Our entry was at $22.04/share and our exit at $22.12/share. We hope to have a clearer view of things next week. While it looked as if Intel would not hold it’s break above $22.07, it did – closing at $22.14.
- On Monday the markets will closed in observance of President’s Day and the Stock Market Companion 15MinuteStocks Market Update and Watchlist will be again available on Tuesday.

– Market Perspectives –
For your added perspective, we’ve included this chart of the broader market (Successful stock investors develop and start with a minds-eye view of the broader market and keep it clear) –

– Today’s Highlights –
Here are a few of our thoughts concerning the market today –
This old adage is appropriate for the market that we are in, “Don’t fight the Fed (Federal Reserve)”.
The Fed is forcing investors to re-think about where their money is and is driving it out of bonds and cash and into the equities markets. We predicted this, have written extensively about it, and have profited strongly from it.
This market may continue to levitate higher, but without some form of pull-back it is very difficult to engage it here.
Last year was a strong year for us as we rode many stocks higher. It has been exciting and rewarding as we timed the market correctly at all major transition points. We were out of the market when the flash crash came.
Our portfolio return for 2010 was +46.8%. Some of our individual stock selections were up more than +90%. We were also successfully engaged with the market last month. Now however we are on the sidelines – due to our exit from the market and reluctance to get back on board as the unrest in Egypt unfolded and provided the market with an opportunity to sell-off – which it did for 1 day!
We are going to be patient with this market and see what we need to do to successfully work with it.
– Story-Stock Investing –
Yesterday we purchased stock in Intel Corp. (Ticker: INTC) and today we sold our shares after the stock failed to show much enthusiasm and as the stock of Apple Inc. (AAPL) and other market leaders extended their pullback from yesterday. Apple Inc. stock closed down -$7.74/share.
We sent out this SMC Intra-Day Alert concerning Intel and the reason for our selling the shares today –
Dear Subscriber-Friend –
At the SMC, we take strong care that our investments are well placed in terms of the overall market and in terms of the individual “stock-story”. We cannot go into this weekend in a peaceful frame of mind, knowing that we have purchased Intel Corp at such a terrible time in terms of the overall market.
Sure, the stock is going up today, but the whole market needs a rest. When it has had a rest or there is simply an opportunity that cannot be passed over, we’ll re-engage the market.
We have sold our shares in Intel Corporation this afternoon at $22.12/share. We were mentally tricked into chasing this market and we are unhappy about it.
We would like ask for your forgiveness for any inconvenience this has caused. It is simply asking for trouble to engage this market at this time.
For your protection and our own, we would like to remind everyone that this is not an investment recommendation for any particular individual. We cannot possibly know the risk tolerance and investment suitability of such investments for any particular subscriber. Successful investors know their own objectives, purposes, and risks associated with any investment – whether in real estate, stocks, or other investments. Each investor is on their own.
We are simply reporting the SMC actions in the market place.
Your – Stock Market Companion
It may be that a stock like Intel Corp. can gather the support of investors as a – late bloomer to the rally – as the support of market leaders wanes. We will see.
Monday is a market holiday, commemorating President’s Day. The Stock Market Companion 15MinuteStocks Market Update – will be presented to you on Tuesday, after the close.
