• FLAT… The markets are biding time today as most of the mainland U.S. deals with extreme weather AND the situation in Egypt remains uncertain.The blizzard conditions measured in Chicago are the 3rd worst on record.

• At the SMC, we are cautious about initiating new investments right now, although NVIDIA (Ticker: NVDA), EBay (EBAY), YRC Worldwide (YRCW) … and others look pretty good.  We don’t like how certain stocks are crossing into 52 week high territory with lack of fervor.  Is it just the unusual weather and the uncertain conditions in the Middle-East…?  Tomorrow will bring another piece to the puzzle to aid us.

Stocks were mixed today, leading to flat results on the broader indexes.

The attention of many investors was on the terrible winter conditions stretching across the mainland U.S.  This unusually stark weather situation combined with the uncertainties in Egypt kept investors from pressing the market higher.

We’re presently very cautious.  We may initiate an investment or two tomorrow… we don’t want to let YRC Worldwide (YRCW) or Ebay or others get too far beyond an attractive buy point where we can place a stop “close-in” – tucked under a recent resistance area that has now become support.
